Ian oversees the commercialization functions at CCAB including the business development, licensing and IP management functions. His team is responsible for the management, negotiation and execution of all industry and academic licensing and partnership agreements including start-up activities.
Ian has over 15 years of experience in developing and partnering early stage research with industry partners, in academic, government and biotech settings. Prior to joining CCAB, he spent 8 years as a senior commercialization manager at the University of Toronto, during which time he helped establish and grow the commercial function of the Toronto Recombinant Antibody Centre (TRAC) from which notable events including the formation of Northern Biologics and the CCAB have emerged.
Ian has received specialized training through the Licensing Executives Society (LES) related to Intellectual Asset Management, and Negotiation of Intellectual Property, an MBA with a specialty in Finance from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Alberta.
